Rite of Danse
is not a dance company ... It's a concept.

With dance as the venue, we bring together people of diverse cultural and social backgrounds; celebrating our creative individuality and breaking down the barriers that separate us.

Rite of Danse productions have combined fashion and dance at the Kemper art exhibit of photographer Herb Rits; woven social dancing and staged choreographies to the Latin jazz sounds of Sons of Brazil ; performed poetry and dance for the “Victory over Violence” Festival; and brought together cross-cultural groups of performers to share the music and dance of Latin culture with “ Sierra Latina…A Latin Evening” .

Rite of Danse gives multi-media workshops utilizing the arts as a pathway to self discovery. With movement/theatre, mask making and poetry writing, we examine the labels and stereotypes we place on ourselves and others. Our intention is to find the place inside where our essence lingers and we allow our limited thinking to subside.
